Initially launched in the US and being sold through a wide range of partners, Digital StoreFront will make its European debut in the near future.
T/R Systems regional manager for the UK and Scandinavia, Graham Martin, said it would target digital printers, quickprinters and in-house corporate print facilities.
Digital StoreFront is server software, which print providers own, host and control. There are no hosting or transaction fees because it is not based on an Application Service Provider (ASP) model.
Martin said that pricing for Digital StoreFront was dependent on the model and requirements selected, but initial offerings in the US have started at 21,000 ($30,000).
Digital StoreFront allows customers to submit PostScript files over the internet. The documents are converted to PDF files so that they can be proofed immediately.
File conversions, PDF proofs, job tickets, estimations and invoices are all generated automatically, while StoreFront can be modified to suit customers needs, enabling secure control of both company and customer information.
As Digital StoreFront is essentially device independent, according to Martin, it is able to run with a whole host of printing systems, including the MicroPress and products such as T/R Systems MicroImager and M@estro.
T/R Systems has installed initial Digital StoreFront systems at both corporate users and educational establishments in the US.
