NexPress has released a downloadable briefing paper on pricing digital print, to help users to estimate jobs more accurately.
The firm said it is of paramount importance for printers to identify all costs incurred in printing a job. These include print volume, ink coverage, equipment financing, labour, paper, service, consumables and waste.
It also states that the cost-per-page approach, which may provide a quick and easy pricing mechanism, can overlook the full costs and confuse print buyers.
Printing Industries of America (PIA) chief economist Ron Davis said: "Factoring all costs into the printers pricing structure has always been a key attribute of the industrys profit leaders. It is even more important today given the competitive marketplace."
The paper is available from www.nexpress.com.
