DirectSmile has linked up with Press-sense to allow integration between the tool and Press-senses iWay Prime web-to-print workflow.
The tie-up lets customers create personalised image templates and integrate them directly into a template in the iWay Prime "customer-driven web-to-print workflow".
"We needed a partner that could provide a powerful solution, rather than develop this system on our own," said DirectSmile marketing manager Johannes Goebel. "It gives customers better distribution options and more marketing opportunities."
"Image personalisation for applications such as direct marketing has always been critical to our customers," said Press-sense vice president for sales Elly Perets.
Earlier this year Direct-Smile launched an updated version of its image software, which it claimed was more of a complete personalisation tool.
XMPie has unveiled its uEdit product, which is a web-based document editing addition to its range of variable data tools. It enables remote online editing using any platform that supports Flash. Shipping is due to start next month.
"We developed uEdit to cater to customer requests for a web-based remote online editor, especially for use in conjunction with web-to-print applications," said XMPie executive vice president of research and development Reuven Sherwin.
Meanwhile, DirecType has had increased interest in its PrintGenerator service, according to Alastair Sames, managing director at distributor Integrated Futures. The firm said the tool offers personalisation without the need to invest in specific software.
It delivers personalised pictures back to the user, who can then able merge them in-house.
