Starzèus Hassan-McGhee joined the visual communications group last month.
He has an extensive track record in sustainability and corporate social responsibility and was most recently corporate responsibility and sustainability manager at marketing services and outsourcing specialist ASL Global.
Hassan-McGhee will report directly to Delta CEO Jason Hammond in the newly-created role, which was created to support its flagship Delta Net Zero strategy.
Hammond said the group had set ambitious five-year objectives for the initiative.
“Starz’s is an inspiring all-rounder with an impressive educational background in sustainable development and environmentalism,” Hammond said.
“He’s also delivered award-winning climate change initiatives and worked on complex international development programmes for UNICEF, DFID, ECHO, USAID and Comic Relief. To capture such a talent is great news for Delta and most importantly our clients.”
Hassan-McGhee will be working with Delta’s procurement team to “further enhance best practice supply chain practises”, on the development of Delta’s sustainability innovation lab and will be “proactively engaging through the Delta Net Zero ‘Collaborate’ pillar to support our client’s goals and objectives”.
He said that Delta’s Net Zero strategy would “deliver real change”.
“This combined with their passion and forward-thinking culture made this an easy decision for me. I’m very much looking forward to engaging with my Delta colleagues and clients to drive successful outcomes,” Hassan-McGhee said.
The Net Zero initiative involves three pillars: Delta Collaborate, focused on innovation and partnerships for sustainability and economic growth; Delta Supply managing the group’s supply chain; and Delta People, enabling the group’s employees and supporting communities.
The firm has set a target of making all its operations carbon neutral by 2025.
The Delta group of companies had sales of £77m last year, and employs 750 staff over eight sites, with headquarters in Waltham Abbey, London.
It’s the group’s second senior hire in six months, after Danni Murray joined as divisional managing director last year.
