DDPC cuts book production with Kasfold install

The Design & Digital Print Centre (DDPC) has cut the time taken to produce booklets after installing a Kasfold Sprint 3000 with online trimming from Ashgate Automation.

Chichester-based DDPC said it produced a high percentage of booklet work, so its previous machine's slow speed was not helpful when quick turnarounds were required.

Managing director Stephen Price added: "It did not have an online trimmer, which made booklet-making a time-consuming process, often leading to staff working late in the evening to complete production.

"Installing the Kasfold Sprint 3000 has led to increased production, as well as enabling us to deliver to tight deadlines. We have expanded our booklet making service and increased production substantially as a result."

Specifically designed for the digital print market, although Ashgate said the machine was still "100% litho friendly", the Sprint 3000 produces A4, A5 and A6 finished size booklets at up to 1,500 copies per hour.

It is a handfed machine that can also achieve stapling, folding and front-edge trimming if required.
