Carpenter has spent more than 30 years working in the industry having begun his career as a reprographics apprentice in the mid-1980s, and then building up his experience in pre-media, production management, purchasing and sustainability.
His most recent roles were head of structural packaging at B&Q and Screwfix owner Kingfisher, and packaging buying manager at handmade cosmetics business Lush.
He joined Dorset-based Dayfold in the new role of print and packaging sustainability manager last week.
Carpenter said he had worked with the Dayfold Group as a client during his time at Lush, and was “impressed with their willingness to go the extra mile, striving to achieve the exacting standards of sustainability that Lush demanded”.
He said he had followed the development of the business since, and was delighted to take up the new role.
“I will be working with our customers to help them be more sustainable and to help them mitigate some of the upcoming changes to packaging regulations,” he said.
“We are also working on some really exciting projects on waste reduction and reuse.”
Dayfold Group managing director Del Simmons commented: “‘Sustainability is now something that is a given, it’s something that we have to have in order to provide the information that customers want.
“Lee will help us understand and do what we should be doing in the best way we can.”
Carpenter’s remit will also include managing packaging data collection for Dayfold and its customers.
The business specialises in creative print production, and recently added to its digital production capabilities with a Duplo PFI Blade B2 cutting table.
