Dataline has expanded its European footprint with the acquisition of Dansk Dataservice’s graphic arts activities.

Dansk Dataservice is based in Kerteminde, Denmark and has been providing IT services for graphics businesses for more than 40 years.

Its main product is IT Graphware, which is used by around 40 companies and has more than 600 daily users.

IT Graphware offers an integrated solution for a wide range of tasks, and is targeted at multiple types of print application, including sheetfed, large-format, digital and label printing.

ERP/MIS specialist Dataline is headquartered in Belgium and its core product is MultiPress.

Post-acquisition the Dansk Dataservice operation will operate under the Dataline banner.

The firm’s residual IT support business continues separately.

Even Hansen, founder and CEO of Dansk Dataservice, will work closely with Dataline for a handover period to assure a smooth transition for customers.

He commented: “I am very happy that my life's work is coming into the hands of an innovative and strong European player like Dataline.

“This offers our customers a stable and future-oriented solution that will help them grow further.”

Dataline CEO Dirk Deroo said the acquisition was strategically important.

“Although the Danish graphics industry is highly modernised and digitised, the sector is facing declining sales and changing market dynamics. While the sector is increasingly digitising, many companies still work with Excel spreadsheets or home-made software,” he noted.

“The need for advanced ERP solutions is therefore greater than ever. With Dansk Dataservice, we are strengthening our position in Northern Europe and helping companies with their digital transformation.”

Dataline acquired Germany’s Pragma Informationssysteme at the end of last year.

It said the latest buy was the “next step in its mission to provide the European graphics sector with future-proof software solutions”.
