Automail is absorbing Curtis into its own operation and is currently in the process of installing one of Curtis' Halm overprinting machines at its site. In addition, the company is replacing the majority of its pre-press equipment with the acquired Curtis kit.
The deal also means that Automail has taken on Curtis Envelope's 90 trade clients.
"We welcome the addition of the Curtis staff, equipment and customers to Automail," said Automail managing director Mike Black (pictured).
Black added that Automail now has five overprinting machines and probably ranks within the top 10 of companies in the envelope printing market.
The takeover highlights a growing trend of consolidation in the envelope market.
