Curtis mill damaged in blaze

Firefighters needed 10 fire engines to tackle a blaze at Curtis Fine Papers Guardbridge mill at St Andrews, Fife on 27 June.

A Fife fire brigade spokeswoman said: "We needed so many appliances for the breathing apparatus required to tackle the fire."

"Huge quantities of paper" were alight in a shed on the mill premises as fire crews arrived, according to the spokeswoman. No cause has been determined as yet, but the spokeswoman said the blaze was not being treated as suspicious.

"It was the mill broke that caught fire, but the damage was not too serious as the machine is up and running again," she said.
