The new press will allow the printer to return to 12-hour day shifts.
For the past year, the company has had to run a night shift in addition to a daily one, after it sold its two-colour MO, to accommodate more full-colour production.
It retained an SM 74-5 and two B3 Speedmaster presses and added the extra shift to cope with existing demand.
The final night shift took place last week, as the new press – Culverlands' first with a coating facility – was installed. It will be housed in the almost completed extension, which has brought the factory size to 836sqm, giving it more production and office space.
Managing director Stephen Edwards said: "Coating will increase our turnaround speeds as lead times are continuing to fall and that trend is ongoing. It also gives us another added-value service to offer our customers needing to give work an aesthetic lift."
Culverlands has been in business since 1949. It prints a range of products, including magazines, brochures, price lists and leaflets.
