Having reported a turnover of £1m last year, the Castleford-based operation is on track to meet a target of £1.2m sales by the end of this year, after an increase in the first half of 2019.
Managing director Stephen Harrison credited the growing interest in his company to an initial tender won with Leeds City College, which proliferated into a number of lucrative and recurring commissions across the city area, most recently a large signage job for the Temple Newsam estate.
“Once we get hold of a customer, they tend to keep giving us jobs,” said Harrison. “Also, once we start working for one client, they tend to start talking and the commissions just spread by referral.
“To keep up, we try to buy something new in terms of kit every year. Last year it was a Dyss X7 cutter and this year we brought in an HP Latex 560 roll-to-roll unit which have both given us a lot of scope for new applications.
“Signage has been a real growth market for us and so now we plan to consolidate what we have got and make the most of the fact that the past two years have been a period of quite significant growth.”
Harrison said he would next look into upgrading CSDPrint’s flatbed capabilities, though he would be weathering the uncertainty of Brexit before making any final decisions.
The company’s kit portfolio is rounded out by an HP Scitex FB500 flatbed, a Canon Océ Arizona 460 GT UV flatbed, several Mimaki systems and an Easymount 1.6m laminator.
CSD Print currently employs 12 members of staff at 280sqm premises.
