The litho and digital B2 commercial printer, based in Aldershot is hoping to up turnover from £800,000 to £1m with the purchase of the new device.
“We wanted to stop contracting out our foiling work to other businesses and this allows us to do that,” said managing director of the 40-year-old, family-run business, Bob Avery.
“It adds the wow-factor. It’s becoming more popular for people to want embossing and foiling work on the front covers of their brochures because they want to stand out.” The investment would make the company more competitive and help it meet increasingly tight deadlines, added Avery.
The £60,000 automatic foil stamper, supplied by Terry Cooper Services in April, offers foil stamping, embossing and die-cutting and features four independent heat zones, two cross-pull foil rewind units and can create 2900 impressions per hour using 110 tonnes of pressure. It also incorporates a missed-sheet detector, an automatic feeder, colour touchscreen control and air-blast system for separating foil from stock.
The device will work on output from Crown Litho’s five-colour B2 Heidelberg Speedmaster and a Xerox Versant 80 digital press.
Other finishing equipment at the business includes Horizon folders, Stahlfolders and perfector guillotines.
