At the exhibition it will be shown in conjunction with a Trendsetter NEWS 200 platesetter, which will produce 200 plates an hour in a live demonstration on Creo's stand.
Prinergy Newsrun can impose single, paired and quad layouts and add all the required crop marks, page numbers, barcodes and other plate furniture. The imposed files are then passed to the Prinergy workflow for ripping and trapping and then output to CTP.
Creo hopes the software will help newspapers to extend their close times for advertising, deal with last-minute changes more easily, and output large numbers of pages less expensively.
Prinergy Newsrun product manager Jon Bracken said the software helped newspaper publishers to streamline the production process and achieve better levels of consistency.
"Newspapers are well accustomed to receiving PDFs from advertisers, but there’s a trend to incorporate it into the production process," said Bracken.
The software also has a user-tracking interface, which allows an edition to be monitored remotely.
It can be configured to work with Creo's Brisque workflow and other PostScript - and PDF-based workflows. Newsrun accepts common file types like PostScript, EPS and TIFF.
A version of the software was previewed in the US at the Nexpo 2002 exhibition in June under the Prinergy Page Pairer brand. However, IfraExpo will be the software’s first showing in Europe.
Prinergy Newsrun is currently undergoing testing at a European newspaper and will be commercially available later in the year.
Creo will occupy Stand 1175 at IfraExpo, which takes place from 14-17 October in Barcelona.
Its Trendsetter NEWS 200 will be equipped with a NELA PL-T pre-loader, which picks and loads plates, removes interleaf paper and presents plates to the platesetter's load table.
