Creo develops VI software for PC users

Creo has expanded its range of variable information (VI) authoring software with a new Windows package aimed at entry-level users.

VI Toolbox is a collection of tools for creating VI jobs in office applications including Microsoft Word and Adobe PageMaker.

The software is integrated into Creo's Spire colour servers for Xerox DocuColor presses, but outputs standard formats so can be used with other digital printing workflows.

It is an expansion of the design tools it introduced in its higher-end package Darwin.

"We are pleased to provide the latest Creo On-Demand Application solution, this time for PC users with VI needs," said Creo On-Demand Applications director Yaron Mohaban.

The software is made up of three modules: VI Merge to create personalised documents in Variable Print Specification (VPS) files, VI View to convert VPS files to PDF for viewing and proofing and Optimized Mail Merge, an add-on for Word.
