Cooper is managing director of newly-formed Simply Inkjet, while former Kodak sales and marketing director Graham McLachlan takes up the same role at the new business.
In November Printweek revealed that Cooper would be leaving YM Group’s Lettershop business after more than 30 years at the company.
McLachlan has also worked in the industry for decades. He left Kodak in March 2019 after working at its inkjet business for more than 11 years.
Simply Inkjet was incorporated at the end of last month and officially went live yesterday (16 December).
The new venture involves a strategic relationship with inkjet developer Memjet.
Simply Inkjet is described as “creating bespoke integrations using the latest inkjet technology. Working in partnership with Memjet technology we bring the most advanced and flexible inkjet technology to a global market allowing business and manufacturing transformation”.
Cooper was well-known for devising bespoke systems during his time at Lettershop.
Memjet’s modular inkjet systems are used by a wide range of manufacturers for applications including commercial printing, labels, wide-format, mailing and addressing, and packaging.
The manufacturer works with a number of market specialists as well as well-known industry players including Canon, Quadient and Konica Minolta.
Laura Powner, the former group finance director of MIS developer Technique Group, is finance director.
Technique, now EFI Technique, is run by Cooper’s brother Paul Cooper.
Cooper and McLachlan could not be reached for further comment at the time of writing.
