Managing director of the Aberdeen-based printer Ken Massie said the expansion of its digital division, which previously consisted of black and white production units and low-volume colour copiers, would also enable it to expand into new markets.
"This new investment further enables us to reach out to a whole new market to offer top quality digital work, personalisation and added value products," he said.
He added that the investment did not herald a migration from the company's traditional litho service but would enable it to offer shorter runs for its clients.
Massie said that the company was targeting offset quality above speed or cost and that had been realised with the Indigo. "You can't tell the difference," he said.
The installation comes as Compass launched its in-house sign, labels and exhibition display division fitted out with a range of Canon, Mimaki and Seal equipment.
