Colin Wilson, a director of the Aberdeen-based company, said: “We required a platesetter that would take us to the next level of both speed and increased quality.”
Compass Print, which employs 28 staff and has an annual turnover of around £2.2m, has also switched plates as part of its pre-press upgrade, becoming the first Scottish printer to adopt Fujifilm’s Brillia HD Pro-T processless plates.
Wilson said that the company, which gets through around 1,500 plates a month, was already seeing a cost advantage from the switch over to chemistry-free plate production.
Managing director Ken Massie (pictured) said: “The benefits of the Pro-T plate are significant, particularly with the Spekta dot formation. This gives our full-colour print the ‘high definition’ quality you would attribute to the latest HD televisions.”
