The company has invested in two top-of-the-range Kodak Versamark presses. A single-colour, two-head Kodak Versamark VX5000KS printer has been installed at its Broadprint site in Altrincham.
The Chorleys site in Leeds is set to take delivery of a two-colour Versamark VX5000 2-2SC, which will be upgradeable to full colour. Both presses run at 230m per minute.
Four web-fed Oc Variostream 7650 laser printers have also been bought, with the Broadprint and Chorleys sites expecting two each.
Nine Buhr BB600 enclosing machines have also been installed across the two sites, with five at Chorleys and four at Broadprint.
John Wells, group commercial director, said that the investment would put Communisis back into a "class-leading position in terms of direct mail equipment."
"We were keen to put in place the latest generation kit, increase efficiencies and boost the response we can offer clients," he said.
"We've gone for a two-technology strategy," said Wells. "We've complemented the Versamarks with the Oc, so we get the best of all worlds.
