The firm will take international mail, primarily magazine mailings, from a variety of clients, fine sort and consolidate them ready to be delivered to their respective countries.
"It's just a case of working smarter," said international business development manager Simon Harris. "Then we get better freight and postage rates and can pass those discounts on."
The division is already handling 27 tonnes of international mail, primarily B2B and academic publications, but has the capacity for 48 tonnes.
It is the only UK firm to hold a USPS Permit to Mail, which enables it to deal directly with the US Postal Service, which the firm claims saves at least two days' mailing time.
"We sort it all here, it's franked and then goes direct to its Brooklyn hub," said Harris. CMM Group also has data-handling, wrapping, laser printing and enclosing facilities.
