The Leicester-based company has bought the 155cm-format CCM Premier guillotine – the largest in its range – along with an Econolift stack lift.

Clarke Rubicon is a specialist corporate presentation packaging company – it converts paper, card and other materials into boxes or pack holders – and produces boxes for DVD or book collection sets, membership packs and a wide range of 'paper-over-board' products.

According to the company, the new machine has "one of the fastest backgauges" it has ever seen and features an easy set-up programme.

Phil Kendall, in-production director, said: "Every job we take on is different, we offer a completely bespoke service, so our staff and equipment must be as versatile as possible.

"The 155 is bigger than the old Wohlenberg it replaced, and it's more powerful, enabling not just larger sheet sizes but greater quantities for each cut. It can also handle materials such as polypropylene which opens up potential new areas for us."

Clarke Rubicon was founded in 1912, although the current management regime took over in 1997.

Around a third of its work comes from the printing trade. It has 80 staff and current annual turnover is around £4m.
