The company said the latest version's platform independence would help users to expand into markets they were previously unable to to reach. It also said the system would work on as yet undeveloped platforms.
Chili Publisher 4.0 also includes added functionality, such as a 3D visualisation tool that enables users to see a ”real-world” view of their design, viewing for instance how a personalised sign might look as a bus stop shelter.
The platform is also now integrated with DirectSmile marketing campaigns tool, enabling users to use data sources and images from DirectSmile to personalise documents in Chili Publisher.
Chili Publisher 4.0 is commercially available now, with existing users able to upgrade as part of their “one licence includes everything” maintenance contracts.
Chief marketing officer Bram Verniest said: “The market keeps moving at a fast pace. Users’ demands, operating platforms, and the channels in which we communicate are just some of the factors that continue to impact the dynamics of the graphic arts industry. This release of Chili Publisher not only keeps pace with those changes, it was built to be ready for whatever the future may bring.”
The last iteration of Chili Publish, Chili Publisher 3, was unveiled at Drupa last year. New features included the ability to use table structures for page layouts, where each cell can hold text, images, barcodes, vectors or tables, and Chili's second-generation mobile reader.
At the time, Chili Publish director Kevin Goeminne said the software developer was trying to avoid the label 'InDesign in the cloud' as it continued to add greater functionality.
