CGI buys US printer ADP Graphic Communications

CGI Group has bought the USs fourth largest financial printer, ADP Graphic Communications, part of the ADP Brokerage Services Group, creating a 86m turnover operation.

The cash purchase, for an undisclosed sum, marks a full circle for 26m turnover CGI, the UK-based global print group. The firm was created by a management buyout of Cunningham Graphics International's non-US operations, when the group was split-up by owner ADP.

"We're very pleased to complete this transaction and are extremely eager to rejoin the businesses and take it to new levels," said CGI chairman Peter Furlonge, who led the MBO in 2004.

The sale of the 500 staff, 20,000sqm facility in New Jersey to CGI effectively forms the old ADP global print group.

With a turnover of 57m ($100m), ADP Graphic Communications is the market leading printer of investment research and the fourth largest financial printer in the US.

The next stage of growth for the firm will involve promoting its technology products, such as document management software said strategy director Joe Lindfeldt.

"We now have a much larger footprint to market our creative design, technology and off-shoring services," he added.

This deal follows CGI's purchase of 3D Digital in June 2005.

"We're taking all of these assets and lining them up to make ourselves a full service communication provider," said Lindfeldt.
