Celloglas was awarded the BPIF's human resources 'Seal of Excellence' across all of its three sites by showing a commitment to staff and making them a key part of the company.
Business development director Richard Pinkney said: “Winning the seal of excellence was all the sweeter because of the hard work we had to do after the floods.
“It is good to have awards and accolades, but this was no vanity project: it has had benefits for our business through better staff engagement and better processes and procedures such as appeals.
“All our staff need to know what's expected of them and what they can expect of each other. It wasn't a huge investment but we had to ensure all processes were up to scratch and rebrand some of our administration.”
BPIF human resources team member Stacey Bromley, who co-ordinates activity sites in Reading, Leicester and Leeds, said: “This is brilliant news for the team.”
Just over two years ago, on Boxing Day 2015, the Leeds base was sunk under almost 1.5 metres of water resulting in months of business rebuilding and reinvestment.
To achieve the gong a minimum score of 80% must be scored on an 'HR healthcheck'. This is undertaken by a BPIF adviser who scrutinises practices and recommends improvements.
Celloglas managing director Richard Gillgrass, whose £12m-turnover business has 100 staff across all three sites, said: “This reflects our hard work in harmonising things across our sites.
“The Seal of Excellence award is a great way for individuals, departments and businesses to demonstrate their expertise internally and to the print industry.
“Our team is diverse, from machine operators to head-office management, and it’s fantastic to be working within a culture where everyone feels valued.”
