The new kit was selected followed an extensive assessment process by head of operations Darren Burley and director of print services Richard Hooper.
The 1,858sqm facility specialises in quick turnaround digital printing from its secure site, along with warehousing and fulfilment.
“The expertise of its 35 dedicated full-time employees and an impressive array of machinery enables seamless collaboration with the broader CDS print management team headquartered in Leeds,” Burley said.
“Together, we are proud to uphold the high standards of service our valued customers rightfully expect.”
The new kit includes two Canon imagePress V1350 colour digital presses, and two imagePress V1000 models, which replace four older Canon models.
CDS is also using Canon’s workflow software.
On the post-press side CDS has added a Plockmatic Morgana BM5035 booklet making system with SquareFold spine facility, a Morgana DigiFold Pro XL creaser/folder, a DocuBind Pro VFX semi-automatic punching system, and an AeroCut X multi-function device that cuts, slits and creases.
The equipment was installed in March, and CDS said it had an immediate positive effect on productivity and efficiency.

Work is underway to achieve the ISO 50001 energy management certification to add to its raft of accreditations.
It is also part of Premier Paper’s Woodland Trust carbon capture programme.
Hooper commented: “By upholding these values, we aim to reassure our customers that the high standards we hold dear are woven into every aspect of our business.”
