Cardiff-based print and packaging outsourcing business CCS McLays is a goods not for resale company that provides retailers with “single-source solutions” for their packaging and consumable goods.
The deal, made because CCS McLays wanted to strengthen its presence in the food and retail packaging sectors as part of its growth strategy, saw all staff taken on from TPSG in October 2023.
CCS McLays, which offers a comprehensive range of items from branded packaging and signage to in-store consumables and catering supplies, has a long-term strategy to move into different retail sectors, such as supermarkets, groceries, and hospitality.
Both its revenue and product lines have grown in the food-related market, and so it said this acquisition would help it to develop further into this field with the expert knowledge of TPSG Procurement.
Ian Hall, CEO at CCS McLays, said: “TPSG Procurement proved to be an attractive business in a key sector, and we felt that founder Andrew McNair is a personable asset that can help us develop as a business with respect to both our medium- and long-term growth strategy.
“We feel that we have the required infrastructure to allow TPSG to flourish within the CCS McLays Group.”
TPSG has been a key supplier of reusable carrier bags, e-commerce, and gift packaging to many major high street and online retail brands in the UK, Europe, and North America, including Iceland, Finish Line, and DTLR.
Andrew McNair, founder of TPSG Procurement, commented: “From the very first meeting with the CCS McLays team, I could only ever see success.
“The infrastructure and support they would provide on an international scale, alongside a shared passion for giving customers exceptional service, resonated with me. It’s unusual to see a big company with such a wonderful personality, and ultimately, it was an easy decision to become part of that team.”
TPSG Procurement will now be known as TPSG Packaging under CCS McLays. The business has maintained its presence in Stoke-on-Trent but has integrated links with CCS’ headquarters in Cardiff.
CCS McLays now employs 140 staff in total and is forecasting revenue for FY 24/25 of around £90m.
