ccDotmeter upgrades microdot software offer

The UK-based technology firm has upgraded its microDot software, allowing users to automatically send RIP data directly to a Harlequin internal calibration strip.

The upgrade, which was developed following feedback from private demonstrations of the software at Drupa 2012, means that the operator does not have to re-key detailed colour and tonal value readings, boosting accuracy.

Dotmeters, such as microDot, are used by printers for quality control assurance. Combining digital microscope hardware with patented Centurfax software, the microDot reads images on litho plates as well as printed output, calibrating both pre-press and print equipment.

ccDotmeter sales director Paul Foster said that the upgrade would save printers time.

Foster said: "As a post-Drupa gift and as a thank you to all those dealers who worked hard to make the show a success, were are offering this feature as a free upgrade to existing microDot users."
