Cats makes move into copier market

Cats Solutions is to sell office printers and photocopiers for the first time, incorporating a service that allows customers to outsource high-volume work.

The Swindon-based company is a Xerox Business Partner and the new service will cover all office printers and photocopiers made by the US giant. The service, called Print Cover, means that Cats will manage longer print run jobs for customers.

The firm produces and finishes requests and delivers from its 2,500m2 site. Its equipment includes 10 DocuTechs and three DocuColor 2060s.

"I think this service will be huge for us," said Cats managing director Greg Smith. "The cover is for everyone and I think take-up will be largely in the corporate sector. We've not sold photocopiers before but I feel that this industry really needs inspiration."

All machines will have the Print Cover badge and customers are given a password to log onto Cats' website and order their requirements from there.

The additional service runs alongside Cats' core business of print Facilities Management (FM) for companies. According to Smith, several recent contract wins have boosted the company's growth. Last year it had a turnover of 5.5m.

"I don't expect it to stay on that figure as we have 10m worth of business for this coming year," he said.

Smith added that he hopes to expand the company with additional space. He's currently eying up a 7,000m2 site in Swindon in addition to its current 2,500m2 facility.
