Surfscan produces the Check range of vision inspection equipment, including its Checkpress system, which is used on finishing equipment, such as slitter-rewinders.
Surfscan general manager Damian Harvey said: "We are one of the only companies that can deliver genuine and accurate 100% inspection, even up to extremely wide web widths."
The company also hopes to move its manufacturing arm to the US in the future.
Harvey told printweek.com: "We want to gauge the market. Inspection was once a luxury, but over time, it has become more of a necessity.
"When sales volumes rise, we can envisage providing technical and programming support from the UK and manufacturing our systems in the US."
Mainplate Controls chief executive Karm Sohi said the company would introduce the Surfscan range so it has the "technical resources to act, not just as a sales force", but rather as a "fully fledged technical support service".
