Cameron Linn fits Diana folder gluer

Packaging firm Cameron Linn has installed Scotlands first Diana Pro 114 folder box gluer supplied by Heidelberg.

"We researched, looking closely at what both Bobst and Heidelberg had to offer, but felt the Diana served our needs better," said Fiona McKay, general manager at the firm's Strathclyde packaging plant.

The 500,000 spend on the Diana includes the addition of  the Jagfeed automatic feeder system and Japack Pro, which unloads the products into  boxes ready for shipping, making it a fully automated line.

"The longer belt on the Diana also means that if we have a smaller job which we want to pack manually, without Japack, we can do so at high speed," said McKay.

The firm produces cartons for a host of supermarket giants' own brand products, where runs can exceed 1m cases. The majority of the jobs produced on the Diana use 400-600mic stocks, but the line has been used for crash-locks on cartons up to 1,000mic.

Long term the firm plans to link the Diana into a full production workflow with its press hall. "The computer system on it is compatible with the systems on our two Heidelberg presses," said McKay.
