The Freedom Ticket credit-card sized maps incorporate RFID tags that, once activated, become bus passes that expire after 72 hours. They are being sold at tourist offices, airport information desks and newsagents across the city.
Dublin Bus commercial manager Chris McCormack said: "We wanted to offer an all-in-one compact, portable solution combining travel ticket and information. We are very excited about the initial positive response from visitors to Dublin who have used the new style three-day Freedom Ticket."
The RFID covers were produced by Magnadata, while the Z-cards were added and the final product finished at Z-cards' Leeds facility.
The bus company, which was already a customer of Z-cards, placed an initial order for 20,000 tickets and has already doubled this, with a view to expanding this to up to 100,000.
