The ETP scheme offers paid time off for staff to receive training from the BPIF and compensation for wage costs and subsidised training for employers.
The federation is already running five ETP schemes around the country, in Kent and Medway, Manchester, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Tyne and Wear.
Paul Barker, plant manager at Newsquest (Lancashire), where 27 staff recently achieved level 2 and 3 NVQs in machine printing and finishing through the ETP scheme, said that the BPIF training scheme was "superb".
"The BPIF has provided a complete training package for the staff to follow and it's been very beneficial for our print quality and the esteem of the staff," said Barker.
Barker is now planning for his plant to become a self-contained NVQ training college, with A1 and A2 assessors in print finishing and machine printing currently in training.
