Proposals to continue modernising the BPIFs structure by creating a board of directors will be put before its AGM next month.
The federations national board of management has given its backing to a new proposed constitution, which will involve the formation of a board of directors comprising five directors and six non-executive directors.
BPIF president Roy Bailie, who has driven a complete revamp of the BPIF over the past 18 months, said the changes would allow it to tackle the vast number of issues it faces, while being responsible to shareholders.
A new national council will dictate the policies to be implemented by the board, and will elect its members on the recommendation of the president. Bailie will be succeeded in that role next year by Peter Yates, chief executive of Decorative Labels in Wakefield, who has just been elected to the vacant position of vice-president.
l The BPIFs new HQ will be within two or three underground stops of its current Bedford Row home, which was sold as part of the modernisation programme.
