Tim Bowdler, who is set to take over as non-executive chairman of the PA Group – owner of news agency the Press Association – later this year, has been awarded the Newspaper Society's President's Prize.
The award is handed out at the discretion of the NS president, currently Michael Pelosi. It recognises an individual's personal commitment and contribution to the newspaper industry.
Bowdler joins a select group to have been bestowed with the award – he is the 12th recipient.
Stanley Clarke, Gordon Linacre, Malcolm Graham, Ray Tindle, Ian Park, Dugal Nisbet-Smith, Geoffrey Copeman, Fred Johnston, Philip Graf, Edwin Boorman, and John Robertson are the only other previous recipients.
Bowdler stepped down as chief executive at the beginning of this year, to be replaced by John Fry, formerly of Archant Press.

The former chief executive of regional newspaper publisher Johnston Press has marked his final year in the post with a unique award from the Newspaper Society (NS).
