The deal was signed this afternoon following HS Printer’s decision to put the business up for sale last week due to adverse trading.
It is Datateam Publishing’s second acquisition this year, having bought the assets of Basingstoke-based Turnergraphic in March via the acquisition vehicle Hollyridge Enterprises.
Datateam finance director Douglas Wright said that the group had initially looked at the business six weeks ago, when it was acquired by HS Printers.
"We had some knowledge of the company and felt we could do something with Borcombe as there are synergies with what we have at Turnergraphic," he said.
Wright said that the company was placed into administration prior to the purchase there were cross guarantees between Borcombe and Goodman Baylis and he could not be satisfied that we were not going to be inheriting liabilities from Goodman Baylis.
All Borcombe staff have been transferred over to the company.
