The move follows the press group's acquisition of Blacketts last August. The proposal to relocate Epping-based Blacketts to the purpose-built Wyndeham Westway site in Luton is part of the group's drive to improve efficiencies and reduce costs.
Blacketts' screenprinting business will continue to run as a separate business at Luton, but the future of its sheetfed staff will be reviewed during the upcoming consultation period.
The costs of the proposal are estimated to be between 800,000 and 1m, with the full-year cost benefits in the region of 500,000.
Clarification
PrintWeek would like to make it clear that Wyndeham's purchase of Blacketts last August was not done on the understanding that the screen and sheetfed printer would relocate to Wyndeham Westway in Luton. The proposed move is part of the group's drive to improve efficiencies and reduce costs. PrintWeek apologises for any misinterpretation in its original story.
