Mark Line, executive chairman of Two Tomorrows, said there is a compelling business case for the incorporation of biodiversity into business planning and operations.
He said: "Biodiversity issues present both risks and opportunities for business, yet few companies understand what they are and fewer still have begun responding properly through their strategies and practices."
He added that the tool, which is based on a set of risk and opportunity indicators, takes into account the process being used at a company’s site, the size of the business and its approach to the environment.
The result provides the company with a ranked biodiversity risk and an opportunity format for it to use.
Two Tomorrows and Biocensus are also offering a complementary tool that assesses the relative maturity of a company's approach to biodiversity management.
