Bindery boost for Bucks-based Think PA

Chesham-based printer Think PA has invested a six-figure sum upgrading its bindery with its first perfect binder and an additional saddle stitcher.

The investment in a Horizon BQ-270V single-clamp perfect binder supplied by IFS and a Duplo iSaddle saddle stitcher has enabled the firm to reduce outwork and cut turnaround time by a day.

"We keep the margin in-house by eliminating outsourcing, it also cuts our hidden costs such as transport,” said director Andy Hurley. "The perfect binder has speeded things up greatly, jobs can be off the press and in the binder within half an hour.”

The iSaddle, which will be used for short run work, joins a Heidelberg ST100 at the 10-staff firm, which specialises in annual reports and publications for the automotive industry. It runs a mix of litho and digital kit including a Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 74, Xerox C75, and its latest digital addition a Ricoh Pro C9100, which was installed at the end of last year.
