Bgp in Bicester will now produce 28 titles 17 from Future Publishing and 11 from IPC formerly handled by the Kidderminster plant, which is being wound down to closure (PrintWeek, 11 March).
Goodhead Group managing director John Cooling said the firm had been "shuffling the deck" to accommodate the new work, which equates to 8.5m magazines a year.
He added that the firm had been working with Future for about three years producing supplements but the deal marked "a new start with IPC".
The titles will be printed on bgp's 48pp Heidelberg M4000 or one of its two Komori System 38s. The majority of the titles are perfect bound although a number of the stitched products will be produced on its new Muller Martini Prima Plus line, which is being installed next month.
The 1m investment in the Muller Prima Plus line is part of a programme to automate the Bicester bindery. It will run alongside a Muller Tempo installed in May last year.
Goodhead's sheetfed subsidiary, Stones in Banbury, is now up and running with its new seven-unit Heidelberg Speedmaster 102, which it uses for cover work. The new press runs alongside two 10-colour Speedmasters.
