Bgp completes Creo upgrade

Benhamgoodheadprint (bgp) has splashed out on a major Creo upgrade as part of a 7.5m pre-press and presshall investment.

A Magnus VLF thermal platesetter from the Kodak subsidiary went into bgp's Oxfordshire base last week along with a Synapse InSite web portal, which allows customers to submit jobs into a Prinergy workflow.

The portal forms part of a batch of software including Synapse Prepare PDF creation software and the Preps imposition package.

Technical manager Dave Bunn said: "Our customers can upload work and receive emails saying pages are ready for proofing. They log changes on to the database and we can have an online or telephone chat."

The order follows the recent installation of a 72pp MAN Roland Lithoman press at bgp, which counts clients including BT, Future Publishing and IPC Media.

"The Magnus enables us to cope with the larger press format but the real bonus is speed. We get through over 10,000 plates a month and the Magnus will increase capacity," Bunn added.
