The Calne, Wiltshire-based business was originally known as Serobex and was founded in 1987 with two staff. It moved to its current premises in 1995, at which point it rebranded as Bex Design & Print.
In 2005, Ian Board became managing director and under his management the company has continually invested in new kit and become a key supplier to a wide range of markets and sectors.
According to its website, Bex Design & Print today serves clients in the electronic, medical, green energy, and traffic and site management sectors, and runs Inktec Jetrix and Mimaki printers, among other kit.
Board said: “Having spent decades building a successful business, our family wanted to make sure that succession planning was in place to ensure the firm’s next iteration was a positive one, and also to protect the job security of the loyal colleagues who have contributed to Bex Design & Print’s continued growth and success.
“We have been delighted with how the sale has gone, and feel we have directed Bex towards a very promising future through the sale to Amcomri Group. I will be continuing in the business supported by the existing management team, as well as the Amcomri team who will be extremely beneficial to us as we continue to grow our business.”
Mark O’Neill, investment director at London-based Amcomri Group, added: “Bex is an extremely well-run business that has performed particularly well during the recent difficult trading period.
“The company is a particularly good fit with our growing group of specialist electronics businesses and we look forward to working with Ian Board and the team at Bex to deliver further success to the business.”
Amcomri Group was advised on the deal by corporate finance specialist Watersheds.
Jessica Painter, a partner at Watersheds, said: “Amcomri Group is a fast-growing, acquisitive group of quality British engineering and manufacturing businesses.
“Over the past four years the group has acquired nine SMEs in the industrial sectors and has a wealth of experience in optimising business performance.
“We recognised that Amcomri Group was a good fit with Bex as they are already a highly respected brand, and as a specialist printer they enjoy a particularly strong reputation within manufacturing industries.”
According to documents filed at Companies House, the acquisition was completed on 11 March.
Amcomri Group also owns printed tape specialist Premier Limpet.
