London-based Screaming Colour made the filing on 9 January, at the High Court.
The notice states that Paul Williams and Benjamin Wiles of Kroll Advisory are the administrators to be appointed.
Screaming Colour was established in 1994. The multi-award-winning firm specialises in digital printing and creative production, and offers a 24-hour service from its 2,800sqm site in Bermondsey.
Its product range includes direct mail, promotional materials, and pitch boxes and it has worked for a raft of leading brands. According to Screaming Colour, its bespoke box making business had the capability to produce more than 200,000 boxes per month.
Printweek understands that Screaming Colour’s core business was badly impacted by the pandemic restrictions. In its abbreviated accounts for the year ending 31 August 2021, total equity fell from £1,089,176 to £387,665.
At the time the firm, which is owned by managing director Iain Moring, had 77 employees.
Moring had not commented on the situation at the time of writing, and it was not clear whether Kroll had formally been appointed yet.
Suppliers to the company are also in the dark.
However, Printweek understands that Screaming Colour is being offered for sale, and there is speculation that Pureprint Group and the ever-acquisitive Paragon Group could potentially be interested in the operation.
Screaming Colour runs a raft of digital equipment including HP Indigo and wide-format printers and a Scodix Ultra digital enhancement and foiling line. It was the first UK firm to buy a Motioncutter digital laser cutter.
