Benson Group makes senior creative appointment

Benson Group has appointed Sam Clough to the new position of creative design studio manager.

Clough joins the folding carton printer after eight years with Sealed Air, where he was responsible for design and development within the food packaging firm's retail team in his role as creative services manager.

In addition to working directly with some of Europe's largest food producers and retailers on global R&D projects, Clough was named as the inventor on three patent applications and was an "innovation champion" for the business.

His appointment will free up Benson Group marketing manager Nikki Clark, who had previously been running the design studio in addition to running the firm's promotional activities, to focus fully on the packaging group's marketing strategy.

She said: "Sam brings great experience of working with food producers at the highest level. His expertise and creativity has already assisted greatly in the development of our customer-facing design services under the name PackWorks."

Meanwhile, Benson Group is set to appear in BBC Radio 4's "In Business" programme, which will be broadcast tomorrow (22 May) at 8:30pm and repeated on Sunday (25 May) at 9:30pm, in a report titled "Packaging in a Pickle".

The report looks at how packaging firms are innovating in response to environmental concerns arising from the amount of packaging in the consumer supply chain; In Business presenter Peter Day and producer Sandra Kanthal visited Benson Group's Bardon factory and headquarters last week to conduct interviews with the team.
