The entire inventory of Drukkerij Schuttersmagazijn is being auctioned via Troostwijk Auctions’ online platform. The business, also known as SMG Group, was declared bankrupt in June.
The company was founded in 1952, first under the name Schuttersmagazijn, later SMG-groep and then SchuttersMGZ.
In April 2021, the business was hit by a significant fire. While the damage from the fire was not clearly visible on the outside of the building, its machinery suffered considerable damage and following the fire, investments were made in a Komori litho press, among other things.
The 316 lots listed for auction include a 2014 model Komori Lithrone GL840-P, a Bacciottini creasing/folding machine, a Heidelberg Stahlfolder, a Duplo cutting machine, various plastic pallets, pallet trucks, a humidification installation, strapping units, various office inventory, and much more.
In a statement regarding the auction, Troostwijk Auctions said: “The auction offer consists mainly of barely used machines because these were only purchased after the fire in 2021.”
Bids can be made until this Wednesday (23 August), when the auction will close at 10am CEST (9am BST). A viewing day took place at the company’s site in the Hasselt area of The Netherlands this morning.
Meanwhile, art from Drukkerij Schuttersmagazijn’s bankruptcy – including drawings and paintings by Anton Heyboer, oil paintings by Charles Lagendijk, and various screen prints of work by Picasso, Ton Schulten, and other artists – is being offered in a separate auction of 74 lots. This auction will also close at 10am CEST on Wednesday.
Dutch publication Print Matters reported in June that Drukkerij Schuttersmagazijn had 80 staff.
A selection of art is also up for auction
