"It's truly unique for the digital market," said BABS managing director Dick Reynolds. It differs from other feeders targeted at the digital market by being able to cope with pre-collated and non-sequential pages at the same time, thanks to its "smart feeder" technology.
The offline FeederPro, which works in conjunction with Plockmatic 1020 bookletmakers, can also operate as a conventional collator. The 3,800 sets-per-hour suction-fed collator is targeted at users that run different printers, or even a mixture of offset and digital.
Reynolds believes the trend towards inline bookletmaking is slowing down. "You need a bookletmaker for each press and that's expensive," he said.
