Art Printing House boosts region's credentials with Ryobi press buy

India-based Art Printing House has installed a new Ryobi 925 offset press at its Kolkata site, despite "bleak business prospects" for printers in the area, according to the chief executive.

Rahul Jain, chief executive of the company, said: "The printing industry in Kolkata has been affected because the city has turned into a trading centre from a manufacturing hub. With bleak business prospects, printing units in the city are not making fresh investments to upgrade their units."

However, he added: "We were looking forward to a new press for improving the quality of our print jobs, and with the space we have in our unit, the Ryobi 925 press fits in perfectly."

The Ryobi 925 is an A1 five-colour offset press, which Jain said offered maximum space and labour utilisation.

"This long-awaited format fills the gap between the 74cm and 102cm format. With an automated pre-press, and CTP plates from TechNova, the Ryobi press completes our vision for quality management," he said.

Besides the new Ryobi, Art Printing House also has two four-colour Manrolands – an R204 and an R205 – which were installed in 1992 and 1993 respectively.
