The book, which is described as an insider’s account of the rise of the Manhattan advertising executive in the 1950s, as featured in the hit TV programme Mad Men, was printed on Arjowiggins Graphic’s 100%-recycled Cocoon Silk and Coccon Jet Pro papers using Ricoh printers.
The book’s cover was printed on Cocoon Silk 300gsm using Ricoh’s Pro C7110SX, which is part of the new C7100 series machines announced in September last year and which has just begun shipping. Meanwhile the text pages were printed on 120gsm Cocoon Jet Pro using a Ricoh InfoPrint 5000.
According to Arjowiggins, the extra white Cocoon paper range is created using pioneering production methods and manufactured from 100% FSC certified recycled de-inked pulp.
Arjowiggins Graphic digital marketing manager Will Green said: “Developing and creating papers suited for Ricoh Europe’s new digital printers allows us an excellent opportunity that will benefit customers and promote the importance of recycled papers in digital printing.
“This way of printing has many positive aspects such as reducing energy usage, cost and emissions whilst maintaining the quality of the product.”
Ricoh production printing business group Europe director of business development Graham Moore added: “The print quality of The Real Mad Men book is a testament to Ricoh print technology and innovation. More so than ever before, it is essential for today’s print businesses to have the right tools in place to consistently deliver high quality finishes.
“The Ricoh Pro C7100X series enables businesses to boost return on investment and expand or introduce new digital print services, while the InfoPrint 5000 offers flexibility when producing a variety of different applications, including book printing.”
