London-based print and design specialist Apprintable has installed a Multigraf Touchline CF375 creaser/folder to support its continued growth as the Christmas rush gets underway.

The device, which was supplied by Duplo – which bought Multigraf earlier this year, was installed in August.

With a suction feeder system, the device can handle paper sizes from 105x148mm up to a maximum of 375x660mm or 375x1,050mm with a table extension and takes stocks from 80-400gsm or maximum 0.4mm, depending on the material quality.

The minimum fold length is 30mm, with a maximum of 500mm, and the device can run at up to 6,000sph, depending on the job.

Apprintable managing director Peter Haddad told Printweek: “We had a really, really old secondhand Morgana creaser/folder and it needed an upgrade as soon as possible.

“We’re just coming up to Christmas and we do a lot of greetings cards so we just wanted to make sure we were properly ready for Christmas.

“Work is already picking up and we’ve started to see orders already for Christmas cards – although we have orders for them in July, it seems to get earlier and earlier.”

The machine will also be used for products like golf scorecards and folded leaflets.

Haddad added: “The Multigraf went in exactly where the old machine was, it didn’t take up any more footprint. If anything, it’s helped us to understand how to do better with a faster, better machine. It’s run pretty well since it’s been in.”

The purchase represents Apprintable’s first Duplo transaction and Haddad praised the company.

“It was incredibly easy – we had a meeting with them for half an hour, shook hands on the deal and that was it, and four weeks later we had our machine.

“They delivered it one day, installed it the next and I think we were trained on it in about 15 minutes. It was very easy and very quick.”

Haddad also praised the machine’s touchscreen graphical user interface which he said was easier to use than previous kit the company had worked with, but “has a lot more in it”.

Apprintable came to the decision on the Multigraf after seeing other existing users praise the kit, including Printed Easy – a company Haddad knows and has been to visit in the past.

“The fact that it’s also made in Switzerland gave me a little bit more confidence too,” he added.

The Multigraf follows the company’s purchase earlier this year of a new Ricoh Pro C9500, which enabled it to bring more work in-house.

It also runs a Ricoh Pro C5300 and a Xerox Versant, as well as a Mimaki CJV330-160 eco-solvent printer with X-Y cutter and specialist garment printing kit from Epson, Schulze, and Sefa on its wide-format side.

Apprintable moved to larger premises in 2022 to continue its growth and is now housed in a 279sqm leased site in an industrial part of Wembley.

The business, which was established in 2015, employs 10 staff and has a current turnover of £1.1m which Haddad said is “growing steadily as the online business is picking up massively as well, especially coming up to Christmas”.
