The firm has been looking at the implications of chain of custody certification for print and has been working with certification body BM Trada.
This year Antalis became the first paper merchant to be certified under both the Forest Stewardship Council and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) chain of custody guidelines (PrintWeek, 20 January).
Antalis environmental officer Liz Wilks said the resulting eco-labels on the group's products offered a guarantee to printers of their supplier's green credentials.
However, she said Antalis had gone one step further by looking at what printers needed in order to be able to sell the certified product.
Antalis plans to publish The Antalis Guide to PEFC/FSC Chain of Custody later this year.
This will offer printers advice on the route to certification and what it would have in store for their businesses. Chain of custody is affecting the print industry as a whole, and Wilks said Antalis had reported an increased use of certified products.
"We believe that it is not only important for us to be able to supply certified products but essential that we provide the tools and guidance to help customers gain chain of custody," Wilks explained.
