Joint managing director Mark Gibbons was unavailable as PrintWeek went to press, while Komori declined to comment, but the firm is believed to have ordered the SII at Ipex.
Gibbons, based in Willenhall, Wolverhampton, bought a System 38 and a five-colour Lithrone 40 sheetfed press last March to take its spend with Komori to over 12m in three years (PrintWeek, 30 March 2001).
Gibbons has said the 38SII is a flexible, well-engineered and sensibly automated 16pp machine that is ideal for the short-run market.
