Managing director Andy Williams said the firm had been experiencing increasing demand for textiles work and so it made sense to increase its focus and add dedicated production capabilities. He added that he expected the new textile service to contribute £300,0000 in the first year to the 35-staff firm’s £3.6m turnover.
In total the company has spent £250,000, which included the purchase of a 3.2m-wide direct-to-textile Mtex 5032 HS printer and an industrial sewing machine. Williams said the firm opted for the 58sqm/hr 5032 because of its speedy one-pass production due to the integrated dryer and the robust and vibrant output.
New applications opened up by the investments include fabric display stands.
Its investment in a dedicated fabric printer follows its investment last year in a 3.2x6m Blackman & White Versa-Tech laser cutting table, which it uses for its textile production.
One of the first jobs produced on the new machine was a backdrop for the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce awards ceremony held at the International Convention Centre.
The Mtex machine joins the firm's roster of wide-format kit, which includes HP aqueous, Mimaki eco-solvent and EFI UV-cured machines including an HS 100 Pro and GS 5500 LXR Pro.
